Accor plans to sell 450 hotels
French hotel giant Accor says it will sell off more than a quarter of the 1,600 hotels it owns over the next few years, as the company restructures its portfolio to focus more on managed and franchised properties.

STR Weekly Report May 2010
The U.S. hotel industry reported mixed results in the three key performance measurements during the week of 25 April-1 May 2010, according to data from STR.
In year-over-year measurements, the industry’s occupancy increased 5.7 percent to 58.8 percent. Average daily rate dropped 1.5 percent to US$98.07. Revenue per available room rose 4.2 percent to US$57.62.

Hotel Industry Leading indicator shows growth in March
DURHAM, New Hampshire—The United States Hotel Industry Leading indicator, or HIL, went up 0.4 percent during March, the second monthly increase after a slight dip in January’s reading, according to economic research firm e-forecasting.com in conjunction with STR.
